Total job openings decline, those for IT professionals and migrant workers are on the rise.
30 November 2020
The overall number of job openings has decreased by 13% in Ukraine since early October. Work.ua, a Ukrainian job search engine, currently lists 48,653 active employment vacancies, against last month’s 56,000.
Month | March 2020 | April | May | June | July | August | September | October | November |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
NUMBER OF JOB LISTINGS | 54,072 | 37,413 | 26,303 | 39,547 | 43,838 | 49,765 | 53,022 | 56,075 | 48,653 |
Similar dynamics can be seen on Jooble, another job search engine with presence in Ukraine. In early October, it listed 143,703 jobs, but by 26 November the figure had dropped to 120,236.
«The number of job listings drops every autumn—we saw it in 2019, too. This year, however, the decrease has been more gradual» — commented Work.ua CEO Artur Mikhno.
The largest decrease has been seen in the catering industry (waiters, cooks, barista, beer sellers), as well in openings for assembly, cleaning, picker, and general worker jobs.
Pharmacists, car mechanic, internet marketing specialists, seamstresses, and couriers are rising to the top now.
Meanwhile, the IT job openings are on the rise. Last week, Djinni’s listings included 13,106 vacancies for IT specialists, 7% up week-on-week. The openings for migrant workers abroad show growth, too.
