According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, officially employed retail workers earned an average ₴11,379 before taxes last year. Salaries have increased by one-third in a year and are now 1.5 times higher than in 2021. However, the average pay varies greatly between companies. The highest salaries are in Bureau of Wine (GoodWine network) — around ₴82,000, followed by Rozetka and ATB, where employees earn ₴52,000–₴57,000, and Fora and Novus, where the average is about ₴26,000 per month.

On average, retail workers in Ukraine earned ₴11,379 per month before taxes last year. That’s one-third more than in 2023 (₴8,685) and almost 1.5 times higher than before the full-scale war (₴7,660). In the first year of the invasion, when businesses were focused on survival rather than growth, salaries even dropped — to ₴7,135 per month.

It’s worth noting that the analysis is based on the financial reports of large retail companies — those with more than 100 employees. These annual reports include salary information for all staff, so the figures reflect not only store workers but also other employees within the companies.

Average salaries in retail vary greatly. The highest wages are earned by employees of the premium wine retailer Bureau Vin (GoodWine network) — over ₴82,000 per month, with 710 employees working at the company. Among the leaders is also ATB-Market, a company featured in the Opendatabot Index, which employs more than 42,000 people, with an average salary exceeding ₴52,000 per month. The company says it follows the principles of transparency and market alignment:

“We regularly monitor salary levels and aim to ensure that our employees receive fair pay. All payments are fully official, and salaries are reviewed in line with market changes,”

— commented the ATB press service.

The Roshen retail chain (its physical stores operate under the subsidiary Izyuminka) employs nearly 1,200 people, who earn an average of just over ₴41,000 per month.

It’s worth noting that among the ten companies with the highest salaries, only Rozetka.ua (the online store) and ATB are included in the Opendatabot Index 2025, which features the largest and most stable players in the market. Within the Index itself, salary levels also vary greatly — from ₴57,000 at Rozetka to ₴26—27,000 at Fora and Novus. Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine ranks in the middle with about ₴36,000 per month.

It should also be noted that Rozetka’s offline stores belong to a separate company — Evroplus, where the average monthly salary before taxes is around ₴16,700.

Despite the challenges, some companies managed to significantly raise the average salaries of their employees. For instance, Express-Apteka (a partner of the “Low Price Pharmacy” chain operating under the brands Shar@, ANC, Kopiyka, and Ne Khvoriy) increased its average salary more than sixfold in one year. DC Ukraine (the Watsons retail chain) tripled its salaries, while Persha Pharmatsiya Kharkova, Alfa-Produkt, and the Eva retail chain more than doubled their employees’ pay.
