765 cars have been stolen in Ukraine since the beginning of 2024, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The peak of car thefts occurred at the start of the full-scale war, but now the number of thefts is decreasing. However, it still remains higher than before the war. The most frequently stolen car brands are NISSAN, VAZ, and VOLKSWAGEN. In terms of regions, Donetsk and Kherson regions lead in car theft incidents.
Since the beginning of the year, 765 cars have been stolen in Ukraine, which is the lowest figure since the start of the full-scale war. For comparison, during the same period last year, nearly twice as many car thefts were recorded — 1.2 thousand. The peak of car thefts occurred at the start of the full-scale war, with 11.7 thousand incidents.
Overall, 15,274 car thefts have been recorded over the past three years.

The highest number of car thefts continues to be recorded in Donetsk and Kherson regions, with 256 and 166 cases, respectively. Together, these two regions account for 55% of all car thefts in 2024.
This year, Volyn region took third place with 104 thefts, making up 13.6% of the total. A year ago, Dnipropetrovsk region was at the bottom of the list, with 137 stolen cars (11%). However, the situation in Dnipropetrovsk has improved this year, moving up two places in the rankings.
As usual, the majority of stolen vehicles are passenger cars, with 516 cases, accounting for 67.5% of all thefts in 2024. This is followed by trucks and motorcycles, with 98 and 42 cases, respectively. Last year, trailers were also a popular target, with 113 cases recorded.

During the full-scale war, the most stolen cars have been VAZ (models 2107 and 21063) with 2.4 thousand thefts, GAZ with 1 thousand, and RENAULT (mostly DUSTER) with 750 vehicles stolen. These numbers mainly reflect data from 2022, when car thefts peaked.
However, the top stolen cars change year to year. In 2023, VOLKSWAGEN replaced RENAULT in the top three.
This year, NISSAN has become the most popular brand among thieves, with 61 thefts (8%). VAZ and VOLKSWAGEN remain in the top three, with 57 (7.5%) and 53 (6.9%) stolen cars, respectively.

Among the models most affected by theft in 2024, MITSUBISHI L200 tops the list with 17 stolen vehicles. Another 15 cars stolen were NISSAN NAVARA, while the VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER attracted 14 thieves.
