Have donations really decreased?
5 December 2025
For International Volunteer Day, Opendatabot decided to analyze how fundraising and donations in Ukraine have changed in the fourth year of the full-scale war. Overall, the trend remains positive: despite challenges and the so-called emotional fatigue from the war, donations are not decreasing. The number of officially registered volunteers in the Tax Service is also growing — although the initial boom in registrations in the Volunteer Register has clearly passed. We took a closer look at what the “plateau” looks like for the country’s three largest foundations and for fundraising through monobank «Banks».
As of early December, 11,792 volunteers are registered in the official State Tax Service (STS) register. The number of official volunteers in the country has not decreased, although the list is expanding less actively than before — only +11% over the year. For comparison, throughout 2024, the register grew 1.5 times. At the same time, since the beginning of this year, 136 people have been removed from the volunteer register.

If last year donations to charities were declining while contributions to Monobank crowdfunding “banks” were growing, the situation changed in 2025. Over the year, the total amount donated to Monobank “banks” decreased by 19%, while charitable foundations collected one-third more than in the previous three years combined.
On average, Ukrainians donate 2.95 billion UAH per month to Monobank “Banks”. Altogether, people have contributed 32.47 billion UAH over the first 11 months of this year.

Every month, 1.8 million people donate money to volunteer crowdfunding “banks.” The average donation amount has slightly decreased this year: 392 UAH compared to 413 UAH last year. This downward trend is likely linked to the fact that the number of active fundraising “banks” has increased by 14%. This year, around 169,000 banks are opened each month.
At the same time, more and more fundraisers are being created by the same people: 136,000 bank owners per month, compared to 116,000 last year.
Ukraine’s three largest charitable foundations — United24, Come Back Alive, and the Serhiy Prytula Foundation — have collected 105.87 billion UAH in donations. This is 37% more than in the previous three years combined.
The lion’s share of donations — 73% of the total — comes from United24. This year, the foundation received a record 77.7 billion UAH. That is already three times more than during all of 2022, which was previously considered the peak year for donations. Most of these funds were directed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while only 1% went toward humanitarian needs.
Since the beginning of the year, the Come Back Alive foundation has raised 26.2 billion UAH — 4.4 times more than during the whole of 2022. Another 1.97 billion UAH was raised by the Serhiy Prytula Foundation. Over the past year, the foundation’s donations increased by 25%.
«Every year, fundraising in Ukraine becomes more difficult, mostly because of economic problems. People and businesses are living through the fourth year of the full-scale war, and of course this affects how much money they can donate. But even with these challenges, Ukrainians continue to support the Defense Forces. Thanks to this support, the Serhiy Prytula Foundation can regularly help the military with their most important needs»,
— said Andriy Shuvalov, Director of the Serhiy Prytula Foundation.
The most successful month for United24 was October 2025: they received twice as many donations in that one month as they did during the whole previous year. The same thing happened with the “Come Back Alive” fund: in just one month, they collected 19.7 billion UAH — more than in the previous three years combined. For the Prytula Foundation, the best month was November: they raised 310 million UAH, which is almost twice as much as their usual monthly amount this year.
The Come Back Alive foundation explains that changes in the country and on the battlefield cause fast changes in the world of volunteering and charity. In 2014, the main need was body armor. Today the army needs drones, communication systems, vehicles, weapons, and many other modern tools.
«We cannot say that the level of donations has dropped, but we see a redistribution. Even compared to 2022, when people donated mostly to big trusted foundations, today almost every family has a father, son, husband, brother, or someone else serving in the army. So instead of sending money to a foundation, families often choose to help their own soldier first. This is natural.Another challenge is the economic situation. People simply have less money, so they have fewer opportunities to donate. However, the foundation stresses that small donations are extremely important, especially to the fund’s main accounts — because this money allows them to quickly respond to requests from the military, sometimes in just a few days. It is especially important for the most difficult parts of the frontline, like the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions»,
