The Espresso Index is an economic measure used to gauge the cost of a standard serving of espresso in different cities around the world. It can be helpful for comparing price levels and the cost of living in different places. This indicator assists in evaluating how much the price difference is for the same goods and services in different countries, reflecting purchasing power and inflation rates.
The Espresso Index in Ukraine doubled over the past years: from 15 UAH in 2017 to 30 UAH by the end of 2023. It’s worth noting that during the full-scale war, there was a sharp jump in the price. The average cost of espresso in the country increased from 20 UAH to 28 UAH just in 2022.
