There’s been a significant increase in fraudsters in Ukraine

Over 24,000 criminal cases were opened under Article 190 "Fraud" in the first quarter of 2024, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office. This is significantly higher than in the same period last year.
In the first quarter of 2024, the number of fraud cases opened is already 20% higher compared to the same period in 2023. On average, this year sees about 8,000 cases opened per month, whereas last year it was almost 7,000. For comparison, in 2021, this figure was four times lower at 2,000.
Only 3,400 or 14% of all registered cases at the beginning of 2024 have reached the court. Over 2,000 investigations were closed. In contrast, during the same period last year, only 10% of open cases reached the court, and in 2021, it was 19%.
