More than a quarter continue to work

According to the Pension Fund, the average pension in Ukraine as of early October 2025 was ₴6,400. However, almost one-third of pensioners receive an average payment of ₴3,340. In total, there are currently about 10.2 million pensioners in Ukraine, and one in four continues to work.
₴6,436 or €133 (at the exchange rate at the time of publication) is the current average pension in Ukraine. Almost one-third of Ukrainian pensioners — more than 3.3 million people — receive only ₴3,340 per month. Another 4% live on about ₴2,300 per month.
It’s worth noting that last year, there were even more pensioners in this category — 26% received less than ₴3,000, but after indexation, payments increased to around ₴3,000 per month.

At the same time, there are also those who receive more. About 1.5 million people, or 15% of all pensioners, have an average pension of ₴15,750 — roughly €325. Another 3 million Ukrainian pensioners receive around ₴6,860, and 2.1 million get only ₴4,510 per month.
Compared to Europe, Ukraine’s pension is one of the lowest on the continent — roughly the same as in Albania (€160). In Romania and Bulgaria, pensions range from €450 to €550, while in Poland and the Czech Republic, they reach €800—€900 per month.
The highest pensions in Ukraine are traditionally in Kyiv — ₴8,848, which is 37% higher than the national average. The lowest are in the western regions: Ternopil — ₴4,997, Chernivtsi — ₴5,173, and Zakarpattia — ₴5,233.
More than a quarter of Ukrainian pensioners continue working after retirement. Currently, 2.8 million working pensioners receive an average payment of ₴7,069 per month.
