The average pension in Ukraine increased by 14% in 2026

The average pension in Ukraine currently stands at UAH 7,236, according to the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Following indexation, payments increased by 14%. Nearly every fourth pensioner still receives around UAH 3,500. The highest payments are in the capital, while the lowest are in the Ternopil region.
The average pension in Ukraine has increased to UAH 7,236 (about $166) after the annual indexation. This is 14% higher than a year ago.
Despite the increase, nearly every fourth pensioner in Ukraine still receives around UAH 3,500 per month. However, over the year, the share of people with the lowest pensions decreased from 36% to 28%.
The largest group of pensioners receives between UAH 5,000 and 10,000 — 3.66 million people, or 36% of the total. The average pension in this category is UAH 6,686, and its share has grown from 29% to 36%.
The number of pensioners receiving more than UAH 10,000 is also increasing — now 1.86 million people. If a year ago they accounted for 15%, today it is already 19%. The average pension in this group reaches UAH 16,500.
At the same time, the share of pensioners receiving between UAH 4,000 and 5,000 is gradually decreasing. Currently, this group includes 1.74 million people, or 17%, compared to about 20% a year ago. The average pension here is approximately UAH 4,500.

The highest pensions are traditionally in Kyiv — on average UAH 9,864. The lowest are in the Ternopil region, where the average payment is UAH 5,612. Overall, only 8 regions have pensions that reach or exceed the national average.
The largest increase in the average pension over the year was recorded in the Rivne region (+22%) and the Zhytomyr region (+20%).
It is worth noting that nearly every fourth pensioner in Ukraine continues to work — about 2.8 million people. Their average pension is higher, at around UAH 7,900 per month.
In total, there are currently 10.05 million pensioners in Ukraine. From January to March 2026, their number decreased by 116,000. For comparison, Ukraine loses about 170,000 pensioners annually on average. Over four years of the full-scale war, the number of pensioners has decreased by 740,000.
