Only half of the top transport and logistics companies made a profit last year

The top 10 transport and logistics companies in Ukraine made over 243 billion UAH in total income last year, according to the Opendatabot Index. This is 12% more than in 2023. However, only 5 out of 10 companies made a profit.

The top transport and postal companies in Ukraine earned 243.67 billion UAH in income in 2024, according to the Opendatabot Index. Their total income grew by 12% over the year.

But not all companies had a good year: 8 out of 10 increased their income, but only 5 finished the year with a net profit. These five companies made 8.16 billion UAH in total profit, while four others had total losses of 12.1 billion UAH. One company broke even.

Even though half of the top companies are state-owned, they brought in over 70% of the total income — 171.89 billion UAH.

Ukrzaliznytsia, the constant leader of the Index, earned 102.87 billion UAH last year (+11% from the previous year), but still ended the year with a loss of 4.19 billion UAH. Ukrtransgaz also had a tough year: its income fell by almost a third, and losses reached 7.44 billion UAH.

Ukrposhta had a better year. Even though it still had losses, they were cut almost in half. The company’s income grew by 12%, reaching 12.98 billion UAH.

«For us, this ranking and its results are not just numbers on a screen. It’s the result of years of hard work by tens of thousands of people who step by step are bringing reforms and turning Ukrposhta into a modern and successful business. Despite the challenges of war, and the fact that we are a business with a human face — guided not only by short-term profits but also by the well-being of Ukrainians — we are succeeding»,

— said Ihor Smilianskyi, CEO of Ukrposhta.

Another state-owned company — Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) — increased its revenue by 7% over the year, reaching 38.53 billion UAH. Although net profit dropped 8.7 times, to 1.27 billion UAH, the company still ended the year with a positive result.

«The GTS Operator of Ukraine continues to work stably and reliably despite the many challenges caused by the full-scale war. The company fulfills its obligations clearly and on time — both for domestic and international clients who use its gas transportation services. This working approach ensures the company’s financial stability»,

— said Vladyslav Medvedev, Acting CEO of GTSOU.

Ukrtransnafta, a state-owned company, had a slight drop in revenue, but its profit fell 16 times, down to 1.22 billion UAH. In the previous Index, this company was the most profitable among the top ten.

For the second year in a row, Nova Poshta (part of the NOVA Group) holds second place in the Index. Its revenue grew by 23%, reaching 44.78 billion UAH. However, profit dropped by 1.6 times, to 2.5 billion UAH.

«In 2024, Nova Poshta was named the world’s best postal operator by the World Post & Parcel Award. By the end of the year, our service network had grown to more than 37,000 locations in Ukraine and over 87,000 in 16 European countries. We also opened Ukraine’s first barrier-free post office and donated over 4.8 billion UAH for humanitarian aid and military support. 2024 was all about movement and overcoming challenges»,

— the company said.

This year, a new company from the NOVA group, Neo-Trans, entered the Index for the first time. It showed the fastest revenue growth among the top 10 — up 100%, reaching 6.5 billion UAH. Its profit also doubled to 116.55 million UAH. Together, the two NOVA companies make up 21% of the total revenue among the leaders.

Logistic Union, part of the ATB group, also performed well. It moved up several positions in the ranking, increasing revenue by 29% and earning the highest profit of all companies — 3.06 billion UAH (+40%).

Meanwhile, Lemtrans, part of Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM group, remains stable. For the third year in a row, it holds 7th place. Its revenue grew by only 3% to 7.3 billion UAH.

Another newcomer this year is Ukrainian Helicopters. Even though its revenue grew by 17% (to 872 million UAH), enough to enter the top 10, the company still reported a loss of 52.5 million UAH.
