Which companies became the top employers in 2024?

Opendatabot has compiled a ranking of the largest employers in 2024 based on data from the State Statistics Service and financial reports of companies. The leader of the ranking is Ukrzaliznytsia, which has over 187,000 employees. More than half of the largest employers in Ukraine are registered in the Kyiv region. Nine companies from the top have entered this year’s Opendatabot Index as the largest businesses with impeccable business reputations.

Opendatabot has compiled a ranking of the largest employers in Ukraine for the year 2024. The list includes companies with the highest number of employees according to the financial reports of the State Statistics Service. Opendatabot has added the ability to sort companies from each region and locality by the number of personnel, turnover, and date of creation on the page of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities of Ukraine.

The largest employer in Ukraine is Ukrainian Railways, with 187,620 employees. In second place, with 44,000 employees, is ATB-Market. The third position is held by Ukrposhta, where 34,700 employees work.

It’s worth noting that 9 companies from the ranking reduced their number of employees in 2023. For example, during the past year, Ukrposhta laid off 35% of its workforce. Also among the top three companies that significantly reduced their staff last year were Silpo (-18.1%) and Energoatom (-12.5%).

When asked, Ukrposhta stated that they haven’t carried out any large-scale staff reductions. At the same time, they’re working on implementing major initiatives for digitalizing processes and automating manual operations.

«The changes in our company’s workforce over the past few years reflect several complex processes, including migration trends linked to the full-scale war, shifts in demand for certain services provided by the company, business process reorganization, digitalization, and automation aimed at improving efficiency and reducing manual labor,» 

— said representatives of Ukrposhta.

Most of Ukraine’s top employers are registered in Kyiv — 6 companies. Another 3 companies are registered in Dnipropetrovsk region, and one is in Zaporizhzhia region.
