Men make up 60% of the lawyers in the registry

Nearly 4,400 new lawyers have been added to the Registry of Lawyers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Currently, the Registry counts over 53,000 active lawyers. However, the number of new lawyers is decreasing each year. Men account for 60% of all active lawyers.
As of the end of August 2024, there are 53,361 lawyers registered in the Registry of Lawyers. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Registry has added 4,370 new lawyers.

The overall number of newly registered lawyers in Ukraine has been decreasing each year. In 2020, 5,124 new lawyers were registered, while in 2024, only 1,708 were added.
Since the full-scale war began, 1,773 lawyers have temporarily suspended their practice, and 8 have completely stopped practicing.
Among lawyers in Ukraine, 60% are men and 40% are women.
The largest number of registered lawyers is in Kyiv Oblast, with 9,127 lawyers (17% of the total), followed by Kyiv with 5,682 lawyers (10.6%), Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with 4,016 lawyers (7.5%), Odesa Oblast with 3,992 (7.5%), and Donetsk Oblast with 3,932 lawyers (7.4%).
Since the full-scale war, the highest number of new lawyer licenses have been issued in Zakarpattia (+15%), Vinnytsia (+14.6%), Odesa (+14.6%), and Rivne oblasts (+13.8%).
