Nearly 31,000 entrepreneurs ceased their activity in the first 4 months of 2024. Businesses are most often closed in Kyiv, Kharkiv Oblast, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Over 23% of newly established entrepreneurs from the previous year closed in 2024.

In the first 4 months of 2024, 30,904 entrepreneurs ceased their activities. However, twice as many new businesses opened—over 74,000 in the first quarter of this year.

Most closures occur among self-employed individuals working in the retail trade sector—10,773 (34.9%). Also, among the top three sectors are computer programming and wholesale trade, accounting for 10.1% and 6.2% respectively.

Most businesses close in Kyiv — over 3,800 or 12.4%. In second place on the anti-rating is Kharkiv region, with nearly 2,400 businesses closing (7.7%). And closing the top three is Dnipropetrovsk region, where almost 2,400 entrepreneurs ceased their activities, also accounting for 7.7%.

Odesa region and Lviv region also made it to the anti-rating, with 7.7% and 6.8% respectively.

Over 23% of newly created sole proprietors last year ceased their activities in 2024, totaling 7,300 businesses.
