Leaders of the manufacturing industry increased revenue by 23% over the year

However, some companies incurred losses in net profit

The top ten leaders of the manufacturing industry collectively earned 317.53 billion UAH in revenue in 2023, according to the Opendatabot Index. More than a third of the top-10 leaders in this sector are companies from Rinat Akhmetov's SCM Group. Despite the large revenue figures, four companies ended the year with losses and no net profit. The largest net profit was recorded by Roshen.

The total revenue of the top-10 manufacturing companies increased by 23% last year, according to the Opendatabot Index. A third of the total revenue of the leaders comes from three companies of Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM Group, totaling 115.34 billion UAH.

Leading the top-10 list is Zaporizhstal, which increased its revenue by 20%, reaching 56.4 billion UAH. Despite this growth, the company faced losses for the second consecutive year, amounting to 4 billion UAH.

In second place is another company from Akhmetov’s group — Kamet Steel. Its revenue rose by 14% to 43.07 billion UAH. However, this increase was not enough to bring the business into profit, as Kamet Steel’s losses grew by 1.4 times, reaching 950 million UAH.

Another Akhmetov company, Zaporizhkoks, ranked 9th with a revenue of 15.87 billion UAH. This is the only SCM Group business in the index that posted a profit, with a net income of 397 million UAH.

Closing the top three is ArcelorMittal (formerly Kryvorizhstal, Mittal Steel Corporation). The company’s revenue fell by 5% over the year to 41.84 billion UAH. However, the company managed to reduce its losses fourfold to 12 billion UAH.

The most significant increase in net profit in the Opendatabot Manufacturing Index was shown by Coca-Cola. The company’s net profit grew 37 times over the year to 1.64 billion UAH.

Roshen, owned by Oleksii Poroshenko, also remained in the black, increasing its profit by 1.4 times. The company earned 5.64 billion UAH, making it the highest profit among the top-10 companies.

Additionally, two companies from Yuriy Kosyuk’s MHP group made it into the top 10 with a combined income of 61.57 billion UAH, or 19% of the total revenue in the ranking. These include:

  • Vinnytsia Poultry Farm — revenue increased by almost a third to 39.25 billion UAH. The net profit was 1.05 billion UAH (-11%).
  • Katerynopil Elevator — 22.32 billion UAH in revenue. The company incurred losses of 156 million UAH.

Ukrainian Armor managed to increase its revenue by 2.5 times to 32.42 billion UAH. Net profit also grew significantly, quadrupling to 708 million UAH.

Interpipe Niko Tube, part of Viktor Pinchuk’s EastOne group, earned 20.5 billion UAH — an annual revenue growth of 25%. Net profit grew even more noticeably, almost doubling to 4.95 billion UAH.

Companies that dropped out of the ranking:

  • Dniprosteel — 11.9 billion UAH in revenue (+10% year-on-year).
  • Delta Wilmar Ukraine — 11.06 billion UAH in revenue (-6%).
  • Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant — 9.5 billion UAH in revenue (-6%).
