Notaries registered over a million inheritance rights in 2023

The issuance of certificates for inheritance rights became one of the most requested notarial transactions in 2023 — 1,073,999 forms. This is almost as much as in 2021 when 1,096,792 certificates for inheritance rights were used.

In 2023, Ukrainians more frequently sold or transferred land to another owner. Land plot alienation was formalized 651,323 times last year. This is still slightly less than before the full-scale war — throughout 2021, there were 763,558 such notarial forms.

After a noticeable decline in the first year of the full-scale war, there was an increase in property alienations in 2023, excluding land — 634,893 forms. This is still twice less than in 2021 when over a million forms were used for such transactions.

Last year, notaries registered 122,329 wills. Their number increased compared to the first year of the full-scale war and almost reached the levels of 2021 when 158,969 wills were recorded.

Notaries registered the fewest marriage contracts—only 6,360 in a year. After a decline in the first year of the full-scale war, the number of marital agreements is increasing but still lower than the figures in 2021. Back then, couples coordinated their marriage plans with a notary 12,921 times.

In total, notaries used 6,226,102 special forms in 2023. This is already 2.6 million more than in 2022 when notaries used 3,582,323 forms. However, it is still a third less than before the start of the full-scale war.
