What are the chances of raidership cases ending up in court?
26 May 2021
In 2021, 322 new raider attacks were registered against 849 in 2020. However, most of them still await the court ruling.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, only 290 raidership cases have reached the court. Since that time, their overall number tripled.
Year | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 |

Raider attacks | 290 | 433 | 563 | 500 | 766 | 849 | 322 |
Raider attacks fall under two articles of the Criminal Code: Article 205—Sham business and Article 206—Obstruction of legitimate business activity and illegal seizure.
Most court proceedings are initiated under the Article 205 of the Criminal Code. In 2021, 101 out of 254 cases were brought to court.
Only a few cases initiated in connection to obstruction of legitimate business activity and misappropriation end up in court. None of the 68 cases opened so far this year were brought to court.
«The raidership cases have procedural specifics of their own, which may result in proceedings drawing out in excess of 2 years in most cases. It is for this reason that the percentage of cases awaiting judgement is this high»,
— commented Fedir Safir, the Chief Corporate Product Officer at Opendatabot.
To prevent raider attacks, you need to follow changes in the registration of your business.
