Ukrainian individual entrepreneur economy in real-time
Situation as of 21 November 2024
There are 2 million entrepreneurs in Ukraine. They are the foundation of the new Ukrainian economy built on private property, personal responsibility, and the absence of corruption.
Individual entrepreneurs are helping build the country: over the past few years, their contribution to the state budget increased five-fold (in 2019, gains from the individual entrepreneur economy reached UAH 1 billion).

The numbers of individual entrepreneurs are growing by an average of 7,000 monthly, with around 20,000 registrations and 13,000 closures.
Despite the closures of «dormant individual entrepreneurs» in 2016, Ukraine is almost back to the peak figure now. Presently, 1,891,200 individual entrepreneurs are registered in Ukraine.

Individual entrepreneurs contributions to the state budget increased by the factor of 24 over the past eight years. Over the two past years alone, the budget revenue generated by them increased by UAH 10 billion. Individual entrepreneurs paid almost UAH 25 billion in taxes in 2019, UAH 19.8 billion in 2018, and UAH 15.4 billion in 2017.

In December 2019, their arrears were at USD 2.4 billion on the national level, staying unchanged as of August 2020.
To put the figure into perspective, Ukrnafta alone has a debt of UAH 15.8 billion. Overall, Ukrainian companies owe over UAH 101.2 billion on the national level and 14 billion on the local one.

The share of women in business has been increasing over the past five years. In 2016, there were 43.7% entrepreneur women in Ukraine. And in 2018, the figure rose to 45%.
