November 2020 saw the highest mortality of the past three years, with 63,438 deaths registered in total.

What are the most frequent causes of death in Ukraine?

COVID-19 and its complications took 6,184 people, with another 2,735 deaths attributed to respiratory diseases, including flu and pneumonia.

The top causes of Ukrainians’ deaths are still cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes (40,359), oncologic diseases (6,171) and accidents (2,324).

According to the State Statistics Office of Ukraine, about 1,000 people died from respiratory diseases monthly before the coronavirus pandemic, including 500 from ARVI and pneumonia. We will update the data as the SSO releases the mortality rates.
